Paper Wigs and Hats, Industries of Cumbria

This project was commissioned for the 'Matisse and Contemporary Paper Artists’ exhibition at Rheged Gallery, 28th May - 4th September 2022. The work was inspired by 18th Century wigs and hats, each celebrating a different industry of Cumbria. The images are displayed as if hung in a portrait gallery in a stately home. The public are invited to make their own hats and pose amongst the gallery of portraits. The work was intended to be playful yet thought provoking, questioning class and privilege. Photographs taken by Rapheal Bliss.
