Community Arts Facilitation and Creative Engagment

I am an experienced community arts facilitator with a record of delivering high-quality, participatory projects across Cumbria. My practice is grounded in collaboration, creative engagement, and social inclusion - enabling people from all backgrounds to contribute meaningfully to shared artistic outcomes.

I have delivered a range of funded community art projects across Cumbria, for Kendal Torchlight, Lakeland Arts and Rheged. As the former Community Arts Engagement officer at Brewery Arts in Kendal, I developed programmes that connected people of all ages and backgrounds through creative activity. Other organisations I have worked with include mental health charity Space2Create, Cdec, Kendal Nature recovery, Cumbria County Council, Barrowfull and a range of local schools and collages.

I have extensive experience facilitating projects with diverse groups, including children in care, survivors of domestic abuse, refugees, and adults with learning disabilities. My work spans from one of workshops to longer term projects resulting in large scale installations, collective artworks and carnival entries. Across all projects I place a strong emphasis on relationship-building, co-creation and nurturing creativity and belonging.

Testimonials

We had another brilliant experience this year working with the fabulous and extremely talented artist Amy Williams. She demonstrated such a great understanding of the pressures we were under and helped us work around that. Amy was brilliant with our students and really inspired them. This was a wonderful opportunity to be part of something that was meaningful to the whole community. The students also developed new skils and built their confidence as well as forming new friendships.

The lantern making workshops at Brewery Arts and the Torchlight Parade are truly a highlight of the year for me and my kids. Amy’s Enthusiasm for the craft is infectious and her patience with the kids allows them to develop their own creativity in such a respectful and support environment.
